  • DMTF and Trusted Computing Group Establish Work Register

As part of DMTF’s Alliance Partner program, the organization and the Trusted Computing Group (TCG) have agreed to a new work register, which outlines areas of technical collaboration between the two organizations.

TCG is a not-for-profit organization formed to develop, define and promote open, vendor-neutral, global industry specifications and standards, supportive of a hardware-based root of trust, for interoperable trusted computing platforms. TCG’s core technologies include specifications and standards for the Trusted Platform Module (TPM), Trusted Network Communications (TNC) and network security and self-encrypting drives. TCG also has work groups to extend core concepts of trust into cloud security, virtualization and other platforms and computing services from the enterprise to the Internet of Things.

As part of its agreement with DMTF, the TCG and DMTF’s Platform Management Communications Infrastructure (PMCI) Work Group will align the work of both bodies at an unprecedented level of cooperation. This will benefit not only DMTF’s Security Protocol and Data Model (SPDM) Specification but also implementers of standards developed by both organizations.

The outcome of the alliance is to release an update to SPDM that will enable a more secure and interoperable platform experience for those implementing the standard, especially when the platform also encompasses and implements standards developed by the TCG.

The work register detailing this Alliance Partner relationship is available here.
